11 Jan Cape Byron Lighthouse – A Toast to 2018!
2017 was a huge year for Wild Goat, for many reasons. Our signature sunrise experience Toast the Sun at the Cape Byron Lighthouse officially turned 1 on Christmas day. We were able to work our magic in helping lots of loved up couples pop the question (maintaining a 100% success rate) and we connected with and were able to use all of our creative juices in planning, catering and co-ordinating a bunch of unique + intimate experiences for some of our favourite local brands such as Arnhem clothing + local charity Future Dreamers.
OUR TOP 3 STAND OUT HIGHLIGHTS OF 2017…
1. EXPERIENCING SUNRISE, TIME AND TIME AGAIN, AT THE CAPE BYRON LIGHTHOUSE.
I have always been a morning person, but I can’t say that in my past life (pre Toast the Sun) I would keenly wake up when it’s still pitch black outside and jump out of bed, simply to go and watch the start of a new day. In my current life, I consider myself lucky to be able to enjoy the experience, alongside our Toast the Sun guests, who are often first timers at the Cape Byron Lighthouse precinct, experiencing our world-famous sunrise the Wild Goat way – in a relaxed and intimate setting. There are so many factors that make a Byron Bay sunrise so special. Cape Byron is situated at Australia’s most easterly point, making us the first place on the mainland to witness the sunrise. To top that off, the Cape Byron Lighthouse precinct is also one of the country’s best locations for land-based whale watching. Their annual migration occurs throughout the year from late April right through to November, where whales pass directly by the cape in their thousands. This, combined with Byron Bay’s warm summers and mild winters, makes our Toast the Sun experience perfect all year round. In the cooler months, our guests are spoilt with pastels of deep pinks, purples and cool blues at first light, followed by clear and vibrant sunrises over the horizon. Then, in the warmer months this changes into humid and hazy, muted reds, oranges and light blues. (Don’t even get me started on the clouds – the contrast and colour at sunrise from their formations are amazing, creating some of my all time favourite sunrises to date). Then, it never ceases to amaze me how following sunrise, the crowds suddenly disperse, allowing our guests to enjoy a brief moment of quiet calm, not often possible at the bustling Cape Byron Lighthouse (Byron Bay’s most iconic location), where they can enjoy the setting, in pure style, complete with a three-course, local produce inspired breakfast spread, with all of the luxe trimmings.
2. ALL OF OUR ‘YES’ MOMENTS!
I never knew men were so romantic…
Over 2017 our team was constantly blown away by the thoughtfulness and care taken by each of our proposal clients to design + execute their dream Byron Bay proposal. Our top favourites have to include intimate sunrise and sunset proposals atop the Cape Byron Lighthouse and heartfelt, romantic beach proposals on the sand (including our first ever same-sex marriage proposal on NYE)!
3. ARNHEM CLOTHING’S CHRISTMAS SOIREE
This was our biggest event to date. Our team was asked to create, style and cater a magical end of year sunset soiree for all of Arnhem’s amazing staff. We chose to host the experience on my family farm, complete with naked tipi + floral installation by our team, full bar + cocktail service and a three-course local produce inspired dinner (surrounded by roaming chickens, cows, horses, our miniature pony + resident donkey). The evening was complete with an acoustic set by the talented @karuahmusic and photography by @lady_bella_australia.
