Q&A With Harry & Julia From Our Latest Byron Bay Beach Proposal

Q&A With Harry & Julia From Our Latest Byron Bay Beach Proposal

We had a chat with Harry & Julia after their romantic Byron Bay Beach Proposal

Harry proposed to Julia this month at Wategos Beach and we wanted to find out more about why Harry chose Byron Bay and what went into the planning process of this proposal.

The Location.

Tell us the reason why you wanted a Byron Bay beach proposal?

Byron is a place that I have been to a few times before and loved the nature and vibrance of the location, however Julia had never been. When I was lucky to receive a voucher for flights from work, I knew the right place to plan a proposal was in Byron Bay.
Wategos was chosen because it is secluded and beautiful, we were so lucky to be able to have the proposal setup on a piece of the beach that is often under water due to the tide.

The Ring.

Who designed your ring?

Tell us a little behind how you designed Julia’s engagement ring, and why this designer. Any advice to couples as to whether they should ask for their partner’s input when designing an engagement ring or keep it a surprise?

The ring was actually surprisingly simple. We had visited some jewellery stores in the months leading up to the proposal to get a feel for what Julia was interested in and at this point I had managed to have her finger size measured. As for the style, Julia had been collecting designs on a Pinterest page for over a year, so when I found the jeweller I only had to show him what Julia liked and he did most of the design work. Thankfully I was able to get a feel for what she liked without having to directly ask her and ruin the element of surprise.

Proposal Planner.

Wild Goat Events

For all the loved up peeps out there wanting to pop the question, but not really knowing how to go about it. What advice would you offer them in whether or not to use a professional proposal planner like ourselves?

People have since asked me if I was nervous asking Julia to marry me, and thanks to Katie and the Wild Goat Events team, with all of the decisions around location, planning and setting up a picture-perfect proposal taken care of I was actually more nervous telling her family than on the day itself. Some of the comments from people after seeing our photos have been how beautiful and coordinated the proposal setup was. For me the nicest part of the experience was the ability to relax and enjoy the moment, knowing the hardest part of my job on the day was simply showing up with the ring.

The Back Story.

Harry & Julia

When did you first meet?

Julia and I have been dating since university and we were introduced through mutual friends.

How long have you been dating?

This year is 8 years together.

Describe Julia in one word?

The best word to describe Julia is chilled.

Where are you both originally from?

We are both from Melbourne.

How old are you both?

Julia is 26 and I am 27.

What’s special to you both about Byron Bay?

Byron is special to me because I have family who live there, I think for Julia it will be because it is where we got engaged.

Any advice for other couples planning on proposing?

Plan it out ahead of time so that you don’t spend the hours before-hand worrying about the details. Take time to enjoy the moment and each-other’s company.
